Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
Donald Graves has been described as a visionary when it comes to teaching the art of writing.
Graves was a long-time professor of early Childhood Education at the University of New Hampshire.
Before his retirement he spent 15 years as director of the school's Writing Lab.
He has authored dozens of books on writing, some of which have sold more than 100-thousand copies.
Writer and humorist Rebecca Rule, a long-time friend of Graves, sat down with him Tuesday at a teacher's workshop at Plymouth State University.
They talked about about teaching, writing and how both play a role in our democracy.

The Plymouth State University workshop was the last all-day workshop Graves plans to give.
He says he wants to relax and spend more time riding his bicycle!

In this day-in-age ,,,,families often struggle to find time to do things together -- but, for those who love the water a boat camp may be the answer.
University of New Hampshire Marine Docents offer a weekend workshop that gives six families an opportunity to strengthen their bonds while building a wooden skiff together.
Outlook's Chip Neal has more on the program.

This camp is held each May.
The fee covers instruction and boat-building materials.
No prior woodworking experience is required but participants should have basic skills using hand tools.

There are still two openings left for this year's boat camp.
But you only have until this Friday, May 5th to apply.
